| Flybe to become Q400 world fleet leader |
May 2007 |
Exeter, England-based Flybe is set to become the operator of the world's largest Q400 fleet with its order for 15 of the high-speed airliners (plus 15 options) announced on May 8, 2007. Delivery of these aircraft will give Flybe 60 Q400 aircraft.
Flybe Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Jim French said the Q400 has played a key role in the turn-around of the airline's business due to its customer appeal and economics.
"For the future, though, most importantly its environmental credentials are exceptional," said Mr. French. "It is one of the quietest and most effective aircraft, ideally suited for the regional markets of the world."
Flybe acquired BA Connect from British Airways on March 5, 2007 to become Europe's largest regional airline, with 152 routes from 22 airports in the U.K. and 34 in Continental Europe.
