Horizon Air grows its Q400 fleet July 2006

Horizon Air of Seattle, Washington, already the operator of the largest Bombardier Q400 fleet, has ordered another one, by converting an option. Horizon has also acquired two additional previously owned Q400 aircraft from Hainan Airlines.

Horizon has now ordered a total of 31 Q400 aircraft, as well as 21 Dash 8-100 and 28 Q200 turboprops, and 20 CRJ700 regional jets. Horizon has ordered more Dash 8/Q Series aircraft than any other airline.

"This additional Q400 airliner will help strengthen our presence in our traditional markets and increase the proportion of larger, younger and more fuel-efficient aircraft in our fleet," said Jeff Pinneo, President and Chief Executive Officer of Horizon Air.

"Horizon Air is an example of how an airline can reduce its operating costs with the right combination of jets and turboprops," said Steven Ridolfi, President, Bombardier Regional Aircraft. "Only Bombardier offers state-of-the-art technologies in both regional aircraft types."
