| ANA Returns for More Q400 Turboprops |
July 2004 |
All Nippon Airways Co. Ltd. (ANA) of Tokyo placed its fifth order for the Bombardier Q400 high-speed turboprop airliner. The latest order for two aircraft will increase ANA's Q400 fleet to 14 aircraft.
ANA first ordered the Bombardier Q400 in October of 2002 and as of June 30, 2004 four aircraft had been delivered. These are operating between Osaka and Kochi and Osaka and Matsuyama. According to ANA, some of the aircraft scheduled for future delivery will be flown on local routes from Central Japan International Airport (Centrair) which is scheduled to open in the Nagoya area in February, 2005.
"The difference in flying time on these routes is about five minutes, and the operating cost of the Bombardier Q400 is significantly less than that of jets," said Masao Nakano, Executive Vice-president, Marketing and Sales at ANA. "Increased frequencies offer our passengers greater convenience and choice of flights."
"Jet-like speed and jet-like passenger comfort coupled with the lowest operating costs of any regional airline aircraft give the Bombardier Q400 a significant advantage over any competitive product," said Steven A. Ridolfi, President of Bombardier Regional Aircraft.
