Good on yeh Q400 March 2003

Bombardier Aerospace, Regional Aircraft showcased the Q400 recently at the Australian International Air Show February 10-16, 2003 at Avalon Airport in Geelong, Victoria.

Thousands had the opportunity to view the Q400 and our show demonstration flight was well attended by industry and media professionals alike. All were impressed with the comfort, speed and quietness of the Q400. Q really does stand for quiet!

After the air show, our team took the aircraft on a tour through Australasia to demonstrate the Q400 to potential customers. As part of the tour, the Q400 went to New Zealand where the aircraft took only 3 hours and 10 minutes to cross the Tasman Sea; quite possibly a record for a turboprop!

Some demonstration tour statistics:

  • The Q400 carried 268 passengers
  • The Q400 traveled a total distance of 30,012 Nm in 93.1 air hours and was away for just under a month (including the time it spent at the air show).
  • The longest leg was 1,943 Nm covered in 5.5 hours with an average ground speed of 353 Nm/hr

"The excitement the Q400 generated at each stop was well beyond our expectations. We have always known the Q400 is a remarkable performer and the world is beginning to recognize this," said James Dailly, Vice President of International Sales.
