| Bombardier Returns to Zhuhai |
November, 2002 |
The fourth biennial Airshow China was on once again, and Bombardier Aerospace was there! Held from Nov. 4-7 at Zhuhai Airport in the People's Republic of China, the show was a notable event, evidenced by Zhuhai in 2000, where the seven-day event welcomed 400 companies from 27 countries and regions who participated in the event attended by 300,000 people.
Indeed, China is an important market for Bombardier regional aircraft, with 29 aircraft ordered by seven different customers (of which 26 have been delivered). The orders include CRJ200 and CRJ700 regional jets, and Q300 and Q400 high-speed turboprop airliners. The market leader in China for business and regional aircraft, Bombardier participated at the show with an aircraft on static display and an exhibit booth.
In fact, Bombardier has been so successful in the region that China's first regional jet training facility, Qingdao Fei Sheng International Aviation Technology Development Corporation Ltd. (QFS) in Qingdao, opened in April 2002 and is equipped with a CAE Inc. CRJ200 Level "D" full flight simulator. The facility is jointly owned and operated by Bombardier Inc. subsidiary, Bombardier Mauritius Ltd. and CRJ customer Shandong Airlines. In September 2000, Bombardier Aerospace opened a new spare parts depot in Beijing for regional aircraft customers.
Bombardier Aerospace's president and chief operating officer Pierre Beaudoin said, "Our participation at Airshow China enabled us to showcase our growing family of aircraft and services. The event also gave us an opportunity to renew our ties with our Asian partners and meet with our customers and prospective customers in the region as well as those from abroad."
