Comair Celebrates Double Milestones October 4, 2002

Earlier this month, Delta Connection carrier Comair of Cincinnati, Ohio took delivery of the first of 27 CRJ700s to be added to their all-jet fleet. The CRJ700 will begin revenue service in November out of their Cincinnati hub to Omaha, Nebraska; Albany and Buffalo, New York; Detroit, Michigan, and; Bangor, Maine.

The 25 year-old company is celebrating its anniversary by adding the 70-seat aircraft to its fleet of 114 40- and 50-seat CRJ100 and CRJ200 aircraft. Comair was the North American launch customer for the original 50-seat CRJ100 and placed the first aircraft into service on June 1, 1993.

"Comair showed the way in North America by quickly capitalizing on the speed and range of the Bombardier CRJ to extend its market reach," said John Giraudy, president of Bombardier Regional Aircraft. "Comair was able to provide invaluable assistance to Delta Air Lines by serving markets that were uneconomical for Delta's mainline jets, allowing Delta to maintain its presence and jet image. We firmly believe that the CRJ, with its increased passenger capacity and exceptionally low operating costs, as well as its commonality with Comair's CRJ100 and 200s, will lead to even greater cost savings and help Comair and Delta continue to grow and prosper in the future."

Says Delta Connection president and CEO Fred Buttrell, "with more seats and extra room, the CRJ700 allows Delta Connection to respond to markets with increasing customer demand. We also have the flexibility to use 40-, 50- or 70-seat Bombardier CRJs to offer superior service to markets of various sizes."
