On Tuesday January 29, 2002 Bombardier's 600th CRJ was delivered to ASA/Delta Connection. The carrier, Bombardier's largest North American client, received two aircraft: a CRJ200 and their first CRJ700. The hand-over ceremony was held at Bombardier's Mirabel facility, and included top brass from both ASA and Bombardier. Said ASA President Skip Barnette: "It's a proud day for us here at ASA. The CRJ700 will help us expand our markets and service new areas. We're also very happy that Bombardier chose us as the 600th CRJ customer." John Giraudy, Senior VP, Sales and Marketing for Bombardier Regional Aircraft said, "It's another important milestone for us...we're excited to share it with such a great partner. ASA has been with us for years and we look forward to a long and successful future with them." Once the ceremony was over, the ASA team then flew the two aircraft to their Atlanta hub, where they held an employee reception. Employees got a chance to see the new additions to the fleet and take a quick test flight. The new aircraft will go into service on April 7th and serve 6 destinations from Atlanta. ASA's very first aircraft was a Twin Otter, and their first CRJ200 was delivered in 1997. |
