The Force is Strong in This One… November 26, 2001

The British Empire has a new knight in its ranks - a Q400.

The newest member of British European's fleet, a Bombardier Q400, is special. Not because of the patented NVS Noise and Vibration Suppression System, its near-jet 360-knot cruising speed, or its notably low operating costs. Indeed all Q400s have those remarkable attributes. What makes this aircraft special is its registration: G-JEDI.

The registration's coincidental connection to Star Wars did not escape the notice of British European executives. In fact, they are very pleased with the name and plan on holding a Star Wars-themed party to welcome the aircraft into service.

G-JEDI departed Toronto for British European on November 22, 2001, the first of four Q400s purchased by the airline. "The Bombardier Q400 is ideally sized for our markets and the tough business environment we face today" said British European Managing Director Jim French.

Beginning in December the G-JEDI will be the first Q400 in revenue service in the U.K. With such a fantastic introduction, the Q400 is sure to conquer the dark side.
