Petroleum Air Services (PAS) of Cairo has announced the purchase of two new-generation Q300 turboprops. In addition, PAS has options on a further five, with plans to expand its extensive transportation network in the oil and gas industry, and, also offer tourism charters to the many famous attractions in the region. The PAS fleet currently consists of five Dash 7s and a sizeable number of Bell helicopters. The first delivery of their new Q300s begins mid-next year and will continue to 2004, with the options. The purchase is valued at over $30 million for the two firm aircraft. The Q Series has been highly successful in both the commercial airline as well as increasingly in the custom mission markets. General Samir Abdel Salam, PAS Chairman, said this of their decision to buy Q300s: "Our experience over many years with our Dash 7 fleet - the forerunner of the Q Series… has given us a deep appreciation for the ruggedness and dependability of Bombardier's turboprops" and "on the basis of the aircraft's economics and performance". In a land known for the longevity of its monuments, that's saying something. Thank you General, we salute your insight and vision. |
